air spade services
Frequently requested for use in areas demanding a very special approach to soil removal, the air spade is a remarkable and effective tool. It fires a stream of pressurised air into the soil at 1500mph, the air jet displaces soil without damage to roots or services. As an added safety feature a brass nozzle is used to avoid the potential of sparks.
The air spade is particularly useful for excavations and when working in areas containing services or tree roots, which could be damaged by conventional digging. We can expose roots without damage, so that they can be located, inspected for decay or bypassed by services.
We are increasingly asked to utilise our air spades to carefully remove spoil that has been tipped on the root plates of trees.
Our operatives are fully trained to operate the air spade and for any removal or reinstatement of excavated areas. We have recently invested in specialist equipment to assist with the removal of arisings from air spade works.
Recently we created a trench for drainage at a internationally important country house. Not only did we avoid damage to the root systems of protected trees, but we uncovered nine pipes and cables, that no-one knew where in this area. The largest pipe fed the impressive fountain, so impressive is this fountain that when it was constructed it supposedly drove the Tsar mad with jealously!!
